With an LED LCD TV, it is important to remember that it is the LCD with backlight LEDs instead of traditional fluorescent tubes. The plates remain the same and the time still liquid crystal diode technology, where the crystals are "twisted" to adjust the amount of light through the screen. In terms of looks, the LE5500 is built in a rosewood color that I personally am a fan of how you look at the traditional houses in size, but maybe not for a modern or contemporary room. The unit is very smooth, just 1.2 inches deep and weighs 63 pounds (just under 30 kg) without the base. The solid heavy base rotates through 20 degrees from the center and firmly supports the TV.
